While meeting with reporters to announce Terry Collins’ new two-year contract with the Mets, general manager Sandy Alderson collapsed at Citi Field Wednesday.
The 67-year old former Marine was conscious and was quickly helped to his feet. He walked out of the press conference room under his own power.
Alderson, who has been the Mets GM since Oct. 2010, had just announced that the team had re-signed Terry Collins as manager. He was standing in a group of reporters when he suddenly went quiet and began to fall. Reporters and photographers broke his fall and guided him to the ground. After a minute, Alderson was talking and sitting up. He walked out of the room after that saying he was fine.
