In the midst of the contract stalemate with Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Jets took a look at another quarterback option on Friday: Robert Griffin III.

The former Washington quarterback will visit the Jets on Friday, sources confirmed to the Daily News.

The Jets have an offer on the table to Fitzpatrick and the team still prefers to re-sign the veteran, according to a source. However, with Fitzpatrick’s status still up in the air the Jets are considering all of their options, hence the visit from Griffin Friday. By having RGIII visit, the Jets are simultaneously covering their bases while perhaps gaining leverage over Fitzpatrick in contract negotiations.

Griffin isn’t the only other outside quarterback the Jets have eyed this week, as the team has also been involved in trade talks with the 49ers for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Griffin was released by Washington on Monday, ending a long and dramatic saga involving the quarterback.

Griffin dazzled as a rookie, completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions while rushing for 815 yards and seven TDs to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

But he injured his knee in a playoff game against Seattle and was never the same player.

But after falling out of favor with the regime in Washington, Griffin didn’t play a single snap last season while Kirk Cousins took over at quarterback.

Gang Green finds itself in this QB quandary after Fitzpatrick hit the open market following the best season of his career. Fitzpatrick led the Jets to 10 wins — narrowly missing the playoffs — and threw a single-season franchise record 31 touchdown passes.

The team does have two less-desirable options at quarterback on its roster in Geno Smith and Bryce Petty. Both of those quarterbacks have upside but with the rest of the team built to win now, Gang Green probably is hesitant to have such unknowns under center. Griffin also would be a risky option considering his mixed bag of performance in his career, though he has previously demonstrated playing an ability greater than what Smith has shown.

Griffin may have been the headliner, but he was hardly the only player the Jets brought in for a visit Friday.

Former Steelers left tackle Kelvin Beachum visited the Jets Friday, according to a source. Gang Green has D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Breno Giacomini installed at its tackle spots, but that they are looking at the position in free agency suggests that may be dissatisfied with Giacomini and/or are considering cutting Ferguson. Ferguson is on the decline and will command a $ 14 million cap hit this season if his contract is left untouched.

One factor worth considering with Beachum: he tore his ACL last October, so his status for the start of the season could be in question.

Former Bears defensive end Jarvis Jenkins also visited the Jets Friday, according to a source. Jenkins left facility and flew home to Atlanta, and while there is no deal with him yet, the expectation is that there will be soon. Jenkins would presumably be a depth option at defensive end.

Former Cardinals and Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham was also among those that took a trip to Florham Park, according to a source. That the Jets are looking at a tight end at all is notable considering how little they utilized the position in their offense last season.

Former Bears ILB Shea McClellin also visited the Jets Friday, according to a source. Gang Green is interested in re-signing ILB Erin Henderson, but he also has interest from the Raiders, according to a source.
