Leah Remini opens up about Church of Scientology Nov. 2, 2015.

Leah Remini nearly burst into tears discussing Katie Holmes on Monday morning’s “Good Morning America.”

The “King of Queens” actress is promoting her blistering memoir “Troublemaker” which details her decades long devotion and ultimate split from Scientology. Remini has said that she truly began to question her faith at Tom Cruise’s lavish Italian wedding to Katie Holmes in 2006.

Remini claimed in an interview with “20/20” on Friday, Oct. 30, that Holmes wrote what is called a “knowledge report” detailing her unhappiness with Remini’s behavior at her wedding. (Holmes released a statement to “20/20” that read: “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”

Upon hearing it Remini choked up.

“It makes me emotional because at that time that Katie and this particular crew were writing reports it caused me a lot of time and pain and my family being reprogrammed,” she explained. “At the time I was fighting with her for lack of a better word within the Church and now I know really what she was going through. At the time I was thinking of myself and my family and what we were going through and although painful I had no idea she was going through probably a lot more.”

“Seeing her and Suri out there in the world and her being able to be with her daughter and live her life, I’m touched by it,” she continued. “I’m touched by it because I now know she did what she did, leaving in the way she did because she had to protect her daughter which in a way connects us.”

Remini has an 11-year-old daughter named Sofia with husband Angelo and has admitted that her child was a huge reason why she abandoned Scientology as she was afraid her daughter would be forced to choose between her parents or staying in the Scientology faith.

Since leaving Scientology, the 45-year-old actress has reconnected with her Catholic faith.

“I was baptized a Catholic. I got my daughter baptized a Catholic,” she said, “and yes I’m reconnecting with my faith and it’s been a beautiful thing and I want that for my daughter.”

When asked what she wanted people to come away after reading her controversial book, Remini remarked poignantly, “I really want people to know that it’s kind of never too late to start again.”
