John Saunders’ wife found him not breathing in AM, called 911

Sports broadcasting legend John Saunders was not breathing when he was discovered Wednesday morning at his New York home by his wife Wanda, who called 911, according to TMZ.

Saunders, 61, a voice at ESPN for nearly 30 years, died after emergency responders couldn’t resuscitate him after reportedly rushing to him around 4 a.m.

He was later pronounced dead at his home.

Although the cause of Saunders’ death is unknown, a detective ruled out foul play, the website said.

His family released a statement Wednesday alluding to a medical issue.

“John wasn’t feeling well physically in recent days and, sadly, he was unresponsive earlier this morning,” read the statement.
