RANCIC CAN’T GET ON AIR
Giuliana Rancic had a good excuse for being late to a promotional event for Kohl’s last weekend in Manhattan. The TV host told organizers that her private plane broke down en route from Chicago. “They took off and had to do an emergency land on the tarmac to get off the plane and wait for the plane to get fixed,” an event source tells [email protected] We’re told that Rancic was so spooked by the mishap that she took a commercial flight back home.
BEAR WITH ‘ABBEY’ STAR
While most of the “Downton Abbey” cast is promoting the popular PBS show’s final season in the States, the beloved chef Mrs. Patmore, aka Lesley Nicol, is in China visiting Animals Asia’s Bear Rescue Center, which rescues bears from captivity. “On the one hand, it’s just beautiful to see the bears that have been rescued from the tiny, cramped cages,” Nicol told volunteers there. “But it’s bittersweet because it also makes you think of the thousands of other bears that are still out there.”
BROOKE’S CLASS ACT
Brooke Shields hosted a characteristically chic reunion for a group of her high school friends at Nello. A spy says the supermodel and five of her oldest friends reminisced over Bellinis and dishes garnished with white truffles at the Upper East Side eatery. We’re told Shields — who went to the New Lincoln School and the Dwight-Englewood School in Jersey — also graciously took selfies and signed autographs for other diners.

NICKI’S THREE-RING CIRCUS
Nicki Minaj wants to keep fans guessing whether or not she’s a bride-to-be. For the second time in less than six months, the rapper behind “The Pinkprint” took to Instagram to show off a massive sparker on that finger. “Now this is what I’m talking about baby,” she captioned the image of the massive rock, crediting boyfriend Meek Mill for buying her the bling. “He and I are not engaged,” Minaj told Billboard’s latest issue. “But he said he would like to give me three rings before we get married.” One more to go!
THE YOUNGER JENNER-ATION
Kris Jenner, say hello to your younger self. The 60-year-old momager smiles next to actress Selma Blair (l.), who plays Jenner in FX’s “American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson,” along with comedian Kathy Griffin. The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment event is the first time the ladies have crossed paths. Back in May, Jenner took to social media to tell her fans she felt Blair was a “great choice” for the person to portray her. Comedian Kathy Griffin

BRITNEY’S BACK (AGAIN)
New music from Britney Spears is on the way. The smiling pop star was spotted outside the recording studio in Calabasas, Calif. “Working hard and hardly working … new album … wheeeee!” Spears teased fans via Twitter last month, confirming she has something in the works. Her latest project will be her ninth studio album.
A GIANT WHO’S LIGHT ON HIS FEET
Ben Affleck flashed a full-back tattoo of a phoenix on the set of “Live by Night.”
Patricia Clarkson attends the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 7th annual Governors Awards in Hollywood.
Giants star Rashad Jennings — who recently told TMZ he was talking to “Dancing With The Stars” producers about appearing on the show — told party guests Wednesday that he will indeed be lacing up his dancing shoes. The running back said at the Eredi Pisano men’s clothing store that it’s a done deal and he’ll be waltzing onto the set of the ABC hit next season. The star, wearing a Pisano suit, also talked about his new foundation, the Locker Room, calling it “a most heartfelt program.”
AFFLECK’S MONSTER INK
The bigger the tramp, the bigger the stamp. Ben Affleck, who had been allegedly having an affair with his kids’ nanny, flashed this full-back tattoo of a phoenix on the set of “Live by Night.” It’s not yet confirmed that the eye-popping ink is real, but Affleck unintentionally shared a small peek at the tattoo as he loaded up his car in July — three months before production for the movie began. A source told Us Weekly it’s real, saying: “He got it done at home recently.”
JUST SIT AND WAIT FOR SUCCESS
Patricia Clarkson‘s advice for aspiring actresses: baby-sit your way to the top. “Befriend women in high places,” the Oscar-nominated star told us, explaining the best way is to offer to watch their kids. “When you have the opportunity to work with somebody who’s established and extraordinary,” she said at the New York Women In Film and Television Muse Awards, “do everything you can to get to know this woman and befriend her and be very kind because she can help. I think that women want to help women.”
