Rapper 50 Cent may need to be upgraded to Dollar. Australian Dollar, that is.
The American hip-hop star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson (or Curtis James Jackson III, to be complete) has been in bankruptcy court for a while trying to manage debts of nearly $50 million.
That’s a big enough debut for anyone but especially if your declared assets are worth nearer $30 million, even taking into consideration a house – formerly owned by boxer Mike Tyson – with 19 bedrooms, more than 12 bathrooms, a gym, billiard room, racquetball courts and ….. a disco.
Upgrading to an Aussie dollar, rapper 50 Cent has come to an arrangement with creditors in bankruptcy court, paying creditors US74 cents per dollar owed.
The 41-year-old artist is staying productive though. He recently released single No Romeo No Juliet, featuring Chris Brown.
Having declared bankruptcy in July 2015 but retaining, as the bankruptcy judge noted “a significant ability to generate income”, the clearly very clean rapper has agreed to an arrangement which would see him pay around 74 cents in the dollar to some unsecured creditors.
At current exchange rates 74 US cents is approximately one Australian dollar.
You see what we did there? Oh yes, we’re here all week. Tell your friends.
