Adele’s ubiquitous single “Hello” had light and dark renditions on Saturday Night Live — appearing in an early sketch shortly before the lady herself gave it a powerhouse performance.

Adele returned to the show for the first time since 2008 on the heels of her new album “25.” Even before she took the stage, the album’s swelling single was the center of an extended gag.

Host Matthew McConaughey ended his opening monologue by cutting away to a skit of a typically dysfunctional Thanksgiving dinner, where “Hello” keeps intervening as the only thing everyone in the family can agree on. Every time an argument reared its head, Adele’s hit intervened, complete with a parody of its grayscaled, wind-heavy music video. Aidy Bryant played an Adele look-alike who kicks off the song.

“Thanks, Adele,” a little girl said at the end.

The British singer returned later, in the same dress and with the same gloom, for another “25” tearjerker, “When We Were Young.” She did not appear in any sketches.

The show started with a parody of “Fox & Friends” mocking the GOP crackdown on refugees, and McConaughey twisted one of his most famous phrases by promising an “okay, okay, okay” show.
