Add one more accolade to the fast-rising career of UFC fighter Ronda Rousey: video game cover star.
Video game publisher Electronic Arts announced Rousey will appear on the cover of UFC 2, the second title featuring the Ultimate Fighting Championship available this spring.
Judging from the cover, it appears a second person will grace the front of the video game box, although it’s not clear which fighter will join Rousey.
Rousey is the second woman announced this year to appear on the cover of an EA Sports video game. This fall, the latest version of EA’s FIFA soccer game featured U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan.
“As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress,” said Rousey in a statement Friday. “I’m really happy to be involved with it.”
The UFC’s undefeated bantamweight champion fights on Saturday at UFC 193 against Holly Holm.
EA relaunched the UFC video game series last year after obtaining rights from defunct game publisher THQ. New to UFC 2 is an upgraded knockout physics system to make fights look more realistic, and grapple assist to help players who want to improve takedowns and submissions.
