Actor Morgan Freeman was not injured when his plane made an emergency landing at small Mississippi airport Saturday night, his representative says.
Freeman was on his way to Houston, Texas, from Clarksdale, Miss., to shoot a segment for National Geographic when a ruptured tire prompted the pilot to crash land at Tunica Airport, 37 miles southwest of Memphis, Tenn., Clarksdale Mayor Bill Luckett, who is also Freeman’s attorney, said.
“Sometimes things don’t go as planned,” Freeman said in a statement. “A tire blew off on takeoff, which caused other problems.”
The pilot and Freeman landed at the municipal airport “without a scratch.”
Their aircraft, however, was not flight worthy, he said.
Freeman took another plane to Houston. He is producing and hosting “The Story of God” slated to air in 2016.
