Carey was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after experiencing dehydration and other symptoms.
Flu-stricken singer Mariah Carey has a message for fans hoping to see her perform this Saturday in New Jersey: “I’ll Be There.”
The pop diva is feeling much better a day after she was rushed to the hospital with severe flu symptoms — and she still fully intends to sing at this weekend’s “Hot for the Holidays” concert, her rep tells the Daily News.
“She is doing well now and will be performing as scheduled this weekend,” the rep said.
The 45-year-old “Hero” singer checked into a New York City hospital on Wednesday morning after experiencing significant dehydration and other flu-like symptoms.
Carey’s illness was never considered to be serious, though it had been unclear if she would be well enough in time to perform at Saturday’s show, which also features Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Mary J. Blige, Fetty Wap among others.
She didn’t appear too hindered by the flu during her hour-long appearance at a Pier 1 pop-up store in New York on Tuesday — an event where she earned $ 300,000 just to show up.
Mariah Carey will perform in New Jersey on Saturday, four days after checking into the hospital with the flu.
But her rep says the singer had actually been battling the illness for several days when she checked into the hospital.
“Unfortunately Mariah had been feeling under the weather with the flu over the past few days and was fighting it to the best of her abilities,” the spokesperson said.
Carey didn’t perform at Tuesday’s Pier 1 appearance, but a source tells the Daily News’ [email protected] column that she still had some major demands at the event.
The insider says the singer asked to be referred to as “The Queen of Christmas” during her appearance, and she also wanted attendees to be reminded that she’s “the biggest selling female recording artist of all time.”
“She specifically wanted (it noted) that she was ‘appearing’ not ‘performing,'” the insider added. “They would have loved her to perform but just getting her is worth it.”
