A 20-year-old man was shot dead Saturday night as he sat in the driver’s seat of a luxury sedan in Queens, police said.
Cops found the victim shot in the head inside the white Lexus parked on 153rd St. near 125th Ave. in Jamaica shortly before 11 p.m.
Neighbors said they called 911 after hearing a car loudly “revving” its engine.
“At first I thought it was firecrackers,” said one neighbor, who declined to identify herself. “It sounded like cherry bombs. It was the revving that made me think twice.”
The victim died before emergency responders could take him to a hospital, officials said.
His body was still in the car — which has plush red upholstery — hours after the shooting.
“It’s crazy,” the neighbor added. “Somebody’s child is not coming home tonight.”
Neighbors heard at least three shots from the late-night attack. Detectives could later be seen combing through shell casings strewn on the residential street and looking for surveillance cameras.
Cops did not immediately have a description of the shooter.
Authorities did not release the victim’s name.
