A shooter opened fire at a Fort Myers, Fla., nightclub and fled after killing at least two people and wounding up to 16 early Monday, authorities said.
Cops found several gunshot victims in the strip mall parking lot where evidence cones later marked dozens of bullet casings outside Club Blu, according to Fort Myers police officials.
A spray of bullets struck 14 to 16 people at the south Fort Myers venue around 12:30 a.m. Further gunfire was heard at a home and vehicle less than a mile away and police believe it is related to the nightclub incident.
Cops apprehended a person of interest in the attack near a gas station six miles from Club Blu, as they searched for at least two suspects.
A neighbor heard around 30 gunshots, WINK-TV reported.
Police marked dozens of bullet casings found outside Club Blu.
One witness said she ducked under her vehicle with her sister as gunfire erupted.
“I couldn’t believe we were in a live shooting,” Juss Olivia said in a Facebook Live video.
Olivia saw at least one young shooting victim lying on the ground at the bar and grill.
“The little boy was just laying on the floor,” she said. “He was just trying to fight for his life. The little boy was out.”
A “Swimsuit Glow Party” was scheduled for Sunday night.
Another apparent victim, identified on Facebook as Timothy Settles, posted a four-second clip of himself lying in a hospital bed with blood on his face, in silence.
“I don’t wabna (sic) die,” Settles wrote.
The club, through its headlining performer Nieya, advertised a “Swimsuit Glow Party” for Sunday night, with a flyer that stated that no identification was required for entry.
